The reasons which cause roll banding:
High partial rolling reduction, broken strips scraps and bending strips being into rolling mills can cause roll banding.
The requirements on the material of cold rolling rollers:
The whole working roller should be of high and even hardness, excellent abrasion resistance and crack resistance.
The effect of lower roller hardness on the rolling process:
If the rollers are not of enough hardness, the elastic pressure will be higher during the rolling process which means the contact area between the rollers and cold rolled steel strips will be very large. Under this situation, if the cold-rolled strips/coils with the same thickness are expected to get, the rolling pressure has to be increased which is adverse to the adjustment of strips shape.
How to use bending rollers to eliminate edge waves and central buckle:
If there are edge waves on steel strips/coils which means the rolling pressure on the edges is too large and positive bending rollers are adopted to eliminate edge waves; if there are central buckles appear which means thermal crown/camber of rollers are too large and the negative bending rollers are expected to adopt to eliminate the central buckles.
